What is Dysport®?
Prescription Dysport® injectable is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment for temporarily lessening or eliminating moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport injectable is placed directly into the muscle underneath a furrow, weakening the muscle to the point where it cannot contract. Dysport, also known as Reloxin, is made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum; it is the same neurotoxin used in BOTOX Cosmetic.
"I have had botox or dysport done by 3 or 4 different people and Michelle at About Face & Body is by far the best. She always knows exactly where to put it to get the best and most natural effect. It doesn't hurt and there is almost never any bruising."- N.T. / Facebook / Apr 18, 2019
"I went to About Face and Body for Sculptra, Dysport and filler. I’ve had injections done before at other places but this was by far the best expletive I had. Michelle used a method that reduces bruising. Not only did she do an amazing job but I left with no bruising. Also, it was pretty much painless whereas it usually hurts other places Ive been. What can I expect with Dysport?
Injections of Dysport are performed in one of our private treatment rooms following your consultation, taking around 15 – 30 minutes. A local anesthetic or numbing cream is usually unnecessary because the injections are made with a fine-gauge needle that creates minimal discomfort, but it may be applied if requested. The skin will be cleaned, and five well-placed injections will be made across the brow, followed by a cold compress to lessen swelling and bruising. Following your treatment at About Face & Body Medical Spa, you are free to resume normal tasks, but you should avoid taxing activities for at least one day.
Following a Dysport session, you may see mild swelling and redness around the injected area, but this should dissipate on its own in a few days. You should sleep propped up the night of your appointment and continue to use a cold compress as needed. Results are usually noticeable within 1 – 3 days as the appearance of your dynamic wrinkles is minimized for a smoother, softer appearance. Your results should remain for about 3 – 4 months, and follow-up treatments can be performed within our Katy, TX facility to extend your results.
How much does Dysport cost?
The exact price will depend on the amount of Dysport used for your treatment. During your initial consultation, your injector will develop your unique Dysport treatment plan and then estimate your cost. Ask if we have any specials on Dysport at About Face & Body Medical Spa and the different methods of payment we accept.
What's the difference between Dysport and BOTOX®?
BOTOX and Dysport are safe and effective to improve dynamic wrinkles. Dysport results typically become visible faster than BOTOX. Additionally, Dysport results tend to last longer compared to other wrinkle relaxers, and it spreads to a larger coverage area. During your consult, your injector will help you understand whether Dysport or another wrinkle relaxer is ideal for you.
Should I get Dysport or a wrinkle filler?
Many patients don't understand the different uses for injectable wrinkle relaxers, like Dysport, and wrinkle fillers. Simply put, a wrinkle relaxer corrects dynamic wrinkles while a dermal filler corrects static wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are created by repetitive movements, for example, smiling, frowning, laughing, and all of your other facial expressions. Dysport relaxes the muscle under the skin to smooth the dynamic wrinkle. Static lines are the result of low skin elasticity so a dermal filler plumps the skin to make it look even. During your consultation, your injector will ask about your goals and help you choose whether Dysport, a dermal filler, or a mix of both will produce your desired results.
Can Dysport be combined with other treatments?
At About Face & Body Medical Spa, we offer several nonsurgical treatments, which may be added to enhance the results of your Dysport injection. Based on your concerns and wants, your personalized plan may include Dysport for dynamic wrinkles, a dermal filler for static lines, or volume in your cheeks and lips, as well as a skin treatment. We encourage you to be open during your initial consultation so we can develop a plan that will deliver the results you love.
How often should I get Dysport injections?
The results of Dysport may last up to four months. In your initial consultation, your injector will discuss how often you should get injections at our office in Katy, TX to maintain your results. You might want to schedule injections sooner or further apart once you see how long your initial results last.
