What is Dysport®?
Prescription Dysport® injectable is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment for temporarily lessening or eliminating moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport injectable is placed directly into the muscle underneath a furrow, weakening the muscle to the point where it cannot contract. Dysport, also known as Reloxin, is made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum; it is the same neurotoxin used in BOTOX Cosmetic.

What can I expect with Dysport?
Injections of Dysport are performed in one of our private treatment rooms following your consultation, taking around 15 – 30 minutes. A local anesthetic or numbing cream is usually unnecessary because the injections are made with a fine-gauge needle that creates minimal discomfort, but it may be applied if requested. The skin will be cleaned, and five well-placed injections will be made across the brow, followed by a cold compress to lessen swelling and bruising. Following your treatment at About Face & Body Medical Spa, you are free to resume normal tasks, but you should avoid taxing activities for at least one day.
Following a Dysport session, you may see mild swelling and redness around the injected area, but this should dissipate on its own in a few days. You should sleep propped up the night of your appointment and continue to use a cold compress as needed. Results are usually noticeable within 1 – 3 days as the appearance of your dynamic wrinkles is minimized for a smoother, softer appearance. Your results should remain for about 3 – 4 months, and follow-up treatments can be performed within our Katy, TX facility to extend your results.
