What is Sciton BBL PHOTOFACIAL?

If your skin is afflicted with issues such as freckles, age spots, rosacea, acne, and/or loss of firmness, the Sciton BBL Photofaccial  might be just the right device for you. As the most powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device on the market, the Sciton BBL Photofacial is able to transfer light energy directly into the upper layers of the skin in a way that is incredibly effective without sacrificing safety, comfort, or downtime. In this way, it is able to differentiate itself from traditional broadband light (BBL) therapies, as well as even the MOXI skin rejuvenation system. We encourage patients in Katy, TX, to contact About Face & Body Medical Spa today to schedule their consultation with a member of our experienced team.

What are the benefits of BBL photofacial?

Wrinkles and age spots are common but unwelcome skin changes that occur as we age. Sun exposure is the primary cause of these changes, which is why it’s important to wear sunscreen when outdoors. However, even the most diligent sunbather can end up with some unwanted skin changes. BBL Photofacial therapy provides a way to improve your appearance without plastic surgery. Patients frequently choose About Face & Body Medical Spa because our team has experience using the latest and most effective technologies in the industry.

Am I a Candidate for Sciton® BBL™ photofacial?

An ideal candidate for Sciton® BBL™ Photofacial is any individual suffering from hyperpigmentation or unevenly textured skin. These conditions could be due to sun damage, damaged capillaries, rosacea, or acne. A Sciton® BBL™ Photofacial can also help to make your skin feel and look younger by igniting the regeneration of collagen. Depending on the type of modality and filter used for the treatment, a Sciton® BBL™ Photofacial can be utilized as treatment for a variety of skin issues. Prior to receiving treatment, Haley will help you understand how Sciton® BBL's Photofacial technology might help you reach your desired results.

What Procedures Can Be Performed with Sciton BBL?

This one technology is able to perform a wide variety of treatments in order to best serve the largest number of patients. These procedures include:

Forever Young: Patients who want to reduce signs of aging in their faces, such as wrinkles and fine lines, will love this treatment designed to increase the natural production of collagen and elastin in the face.

Forever Clear: Using a unique, three-step process, Forever Clear is able to eliminate the appearance of acne and other blemishes on the face.

Forever Body: While the previous two procedures are focused on the face, Forever Body allows patients to utilize these benefits on virtually any area of their body, including the chest, back, and shoulders.

SkinTyte: As the body ages, the skin will usually start to become a bit more loose, leading to sagging. SkinTyte is a noninvasive solution to this that allows patients to tighten the skin on their neck, jawline, and body.

How Does Sciton BBL Photofacial Work?

During your initial appointment, we'll listen to your concerns and goals before creating a treatment plan completely tailored to your needs. At this point, we will ask patients to lie down comfortably in one of our treatment rooms. A cooling gel will then be applied to the targeted area(s) in order to ensure the patient remains completely comfortable throughout the duration of the procedure. Once it has set, we will begin to repeatedly pass the BBL handpiece over the area. This device will transmit light energy into the skin, stimulating the body's natural healing process. The total length of the procedure will depend on which treatment you choose, as well as the number, size, and severity of the areas being targeted.

What can I expect after Sciton BBL photofacial?

Following the photofacial, a soothing lotion will be smoothed onto your skin. Haley may also offer post-treatment care directions and may advise limited exposure to the sun. Otherwise, patients are typically able to return to their regular daily routine. Results from BBL may be noticed in 2 – 6 weeks following the initial treatment, but best results will generally be seen after repeat BBL treatments. Michelle will suggest the recommended amount of procedures to achieve your preferred outcome at About Face & Body Medical Spa.

Sciton BBL Photofacial FAQ

How much does Sciton BBL Photofacial cost?
Every patient case is unique, so your cost for Sciton BBL Photofacial will be dependent on your goals and what procedures you decide to include in your treatment plan. About Face & Body Medical Spa offers monthly specials, and we take several payment methods. During your initial consultation, your technician can help estimate your cost and determine the number of treatments needed to match your goals.

How quick are the results from Sciton BBL Photofacial?
Many patients can see improvements in about three days after their initial treatment, but final results are visible around one month after a full series of treatments is completed as new collagen and elastin are formed. It is common for your skin to get varying results after each treatment session. You will see a gradual diminishing of redness, blotchiness, sunspots, and age spots over time.

What are the possible side effects of Sciton BBL Photofacial?
You may have mild, temporary side effects, like redness, swelling, blisters, bruising, or crusting. These fade 2 – 3 days following your treatment. You will be extra sensitive to the sun, and you should keep in mind that damaging UV rays can negatively impact the results of the procedure. Whenever you go outside, you should always wear sunscreen to protect your skin and prevent issues like spots and redness.

Do I need to prep for Sciton BBL Photofacial?
Patients about to undergo a Sciton BBL treatment are asked to skip sun exposure and self-tanners for 2 – 4 weeks prior to the appointment. You should discontinue the use of certain medications and topical creams, like Retin-A, a few days before each procedure and may be asked to take ibuprofen or aspirin a week before the treatment to decrease your risk of bruising. You also need to use sun protection (like a hat and sunscreen) since your skin will be extra sensitive.

Why should I get multiple Sciton BBL Photofacial sessions?
A full series of Sciton BBL photo rejuvenation is recommended to deliver gradual improvements to your skin. Each treatment will fade spots and other surface irregularities. A series of sessions also produces longer-lasting results.
